Mission and Goal

The Mission of the Parkville Senior Center is:

to honor and respect the diversity of our senior population to provide stimulating opportunities for seniors to learn and socialize by providing recreational, social and health programs, which enhance their lives to serve and advocate for the elderly to be the first point of contact for other services from the City of Hartford to encourage older adults to apply their wisdom and insight in assisting others in our community to offer opportunities to exercise their skills The Goal of the Parkville Senior Center is: to render service to the community and to develop and implement programs for varied interests History of the Parkville Senior Center.

The Parkville Senior Center was founded in 1971 and was located in several different sites until the Parkville Community School Complex was built in 1976. The Parkville Community School Complex was designed to house the Senior Center, the Day Care Center, the Dwight Branch Library, a Recreation Room and a Community Room. The Parkville Senior Center was sponsored by the Parkville Community Association until 1976 when it incorporated and became a 501 (c) (3) organization. Members of the Parkville Senior Center have been active participants in all of the organizations in the community and serve as hosts for most of their meetings.
