Technology Project
Hartford, CT - Starting in August 2017, The Friends of Pope Park Youth Digital Technology Project will offer free computer classes for middle and high school aged youth. Classes will be held during after school hours at the Samuel V. Arroyo Recreation Center at 30 Pope Park Drive in Hartford.
The project, funded by a grant from the State of CT Judicial Services, is a new collaboration between educational, community, business and government organizations, to offer year-round technology-related programming to youth in order to halt the "digital divide," which refers to lack of access, fluency, and understanding of how to use computers and the internet to realize educational and professional goals. Further, the project is designed to introduce youth to the field of computer science and to encourage them to study STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields.
